Linking Windows

You can now link windows together, so now when you change the market on one window it will change the markets on the other windows linked to it.

The linking only works between the contract window, Quote board, and chart.

  1. To enable the linking you need to go to the properties button located in each window.
  1. Once in the properties, you need to navigate to the window tab and enable the linking for each window you choose to link.
  2. Click in the value area to enable the linking. You need to do this in every window you want to link.
  3. You can click on the color bar in the value area to set a color, this allows you to easily differentiate which windows are linked to.
  4. You can also set a shape that will show up just to the right of the properties as another way to differentiate which windows are linked.
  5. The acct info direction allows you tie the Quote Board alternate account to the trading ladders alternate account. You can set the window to send only, send and receive, or receive.
  6. The market info direction allows you to tie the Markets between the Quote Board, Trading ladder, and chart. You can set the window to send only, send and receive, or receive.
In the above example send and receive is selected for all three windows now any change I make will be made between all three windows.

Please see the below video for a quick walkthrough

Window Header Colour

You can now change the color of the window headers on the Charts and the Trading ladders. This is useful for traders with large layouts who want to be able to easily differentiate each market by color coding on the Header.

To set this up you can go to the properties of the chart or ladder and click in the value area of the Titlebar Style.
After clicking in the value area the menu to edit will pop up.

  1. Click in the value area to bring up a color picker to set the color of the header.
  2. Click in the value area to bring up a color picker to set the font color in the header.
  3. Click in the value area to bring up a color picker to set the color of the window border.
Below is a video showing more on how to use this including the charts.

Display Tab

The Display Tab contains properties that affect the display of information in a Contract Window. 1. Name Changes the name of the contract on the contract window Set- Sets the name to be displayed. Clear- removes displayed name. 2. Layout When clicked, the layout and settings of the current Contract Window will be saved as default and used to create all new Contract windows. 3. Save This will save a copy of the current Contract Window layout and the saved layout can be found in the Window Management. 4.Grid Font Settings for the grid font + - Increase or decrease the grid font size. This font size overrides the default. Changes to the default grid font size in the Main Properties Window’s Main Tab will now update this Contract window. Reset Reset the middle font size to the default font. Changes to the default grid font size in the Main Properties Window’s Main Tab will now update this Contract window. 5. Middle Font Settings for the middle font + - Increase or decrease the font size of the middle column. This font size overrides the default. Changes to the default grid font size in the Main Properties Window’s Main Tab will not update this Contract window. Reset Reset the middle font size to the default font. Changes to the default grid font size in the Main Properties Window’s Main Tab will now update this Contract window. 6. Auto Track The Contract window is able to automatically track the market. Auto Re-centered - This will make the ladder remain static while the best bid and offer are on the screen. If either the best bid or offer is not visible (e.g due to a wide market or market movement) then the ladder will automatically shift instantly to the center of the market. Smooth - The market scrolls up and down to constantly center itself. Centered - Stays centered on the current market best bid. Depth - This shows the bids and offers as a list instead of on a ladder. Prices where there are no bids/offers are hidden. This can be helpful in wide or thin markets. 7. Mouse Follow Ensures that the mouse remains in the row that contains a specific price. If this is enabled then resting the mouse pointer over a bid or offer price will cause the system to automatically move the mouse pointer when the market moves so that the mouse remains over the same price row. Having the mouse remain over the same price row lowers the risk of submitting an order at the incorrect price. 8. Fade Time The time taken in minutes for the Total column to fade from the Trade color to Trade Background color. The fading colors provide a sense of where the market has been and when. 9. Prop Scale The depth color bars in the Bid and Offer columns are scaled using this value. This provides a visual indication of the relative volume available in the market at different prices. Adjust this value to provide a meaningful ratio or bar width. The Bid and Offer colors will appear as a bar against their corresponding Background colors. note the button to the right of the prop scale. You can click the button to manual or change it to auto which will auto-adjust the scaling for the gradients that display or manual. 10. Total Trade Volume If enabled the Total Trade Volume by Price column displays the total volume traded at each price for the current trading day. 11. Trade History If enabled the Trade History column provides a graphical display of trades as they occur in the market. Each trade will be plotted horizontally to the left or right (configurable) of the previous trade, and vertically at the price traded. 12. Max History The total number of trades to display in the History column. The maximum value allowed is 100. 13. Order Counts This will add a second column of Bids and offers that display the number of distinct orders that comprise the bids and offers. 14. Order Scale The depth color bars in the Bid Counts and Offer Counts columns are scaled using this value.

  14. Summary Information Display or hide summary information.
  15. Symbol Price Range Increase or decrease the symbol price range. This allows you to combine trades for mulitiple prices into a single time interval.

Symbol Price Range

The price scale includes a row for every price tick. For some markets, this makes the profile too large to see one a single screen (without zooming out so far the letters are barely legible.)

A Symbol Price Range of 1 is the default and shows one row per price tick. A value of 2 shows one row for every two price ticks, etc.

Adjust the symbol price range using the tool bar buttons.

Properties -> Profile (Tab) -> Symbol Price Range -> enter desired value

Displaying/Customizing Initial Balance and Opening Range

The Initial Balance and Opening Range indicators can be toggled on and off using the IB and OR toolbar buttons, or checkboxes on the Properties -> Display (Tab) options page. Additionally, the colors of these indicators can be customized using the Properties -> Display (Tab). Initial Balance shows the price range traded in the first 60 minutes (first two letters when using 30-minute TPO intervals). Opening Range displays the price range traded in the first minute of trading. These time ranges for these indicators can be customized on the Properties -> Profile (Tab) options page.

The Initial Balance indicator can be extended by a configurable percentage. The IBx1 extension displays the Initial Balance extended to 150%, the IBx2 extension displays the Initial Balance extended to 200%. These percentages can be customized on the Properties -> Profile (Tab) options page. These indicator extensions can be toggled on and off and their colors customized on the Properties -> Profile Tab. If the Opening Range or Initial Balance indicators do not appear correct to you, you may try tweaking the custom session time range to the open and close times for the market you are viewing (see Custom Session Times above.)

Window Management

Almost any window on the desktop version has its own property and in that windows property you can make it a default or save a copy of it. This window allows you to manage these windows, create multiple defaults, duplicate windows and rename them with your own unique name all from within the window manager.

To open select Window Management from the Main window’s New Item Menu.

Whenever you click save as a default or save copy in your windows properties it gets stored here, and you can toggle between default and saved.
Default Tab
While in the defaults tab if you Left clicking on the check box in the default area it will disable the use of your default window. This is helpful if you wanted to create a new window independent of your default. If you left click on an icon in the open new value area it will bring up a contract picker and allow you to pull up a new market using that default.
When you click on the add window tab it will bring up a list of all windows currently on your layout. You can click the plus located next to the heading to see a list of those windows. left clicking on the contract you select will add it to the list as a copy. This is important because this ladder had changes made to it that are not on my main default window. I also gave it a unique name so I can easily differentiate it from my other default. Now I have a second default to choose from in my default window list. If I want I can click the icon for that window and it will bring up a contract picker to choose a new contract window applying my settings that I created for that default. Saved Tab When in the property of a specific market if you click save copy it will be stored here. It is similar to the defaults as it allows you to edit the names of the window and select any window from your layout to store it here. This is different in that it creates a duplicate copy of the window you saved.

Clicking the add window tab will bring up a list of windows currently on your layout. Once you have selected the window you want and click ok it will save that window to your saved tab. Clicking the icon in the open new area will bring up the exact window you saved. This is a useful tool if you do not have a lot of screen real estate. In the picture below you will notice that I saved four different meal charts all different time frames. This allows you to easily pull up a chart window without having keep it up on your layout.

DDE

T4 supports sending data via DDE to other application providers, such as Microsoft Excel and Open Office.

On the Main tab of the Main Properties you will find the DDE Format option. This allows you to change between Excel and OpenOffice Calc DDE syntax. They are not the same.

To recieve quote data from a particular DDE link MUST have a Quote Board window open and containing the desired market. Then click the ‘DDE’ button on the Quote Board. Right click on a cell in your spreadsheet and choose the ‘Paste’ menu item. This will paste a table of links to T4 that contain the same markets and columns as your Quote Board. Alternatively, you can right click on a single value in the Quote Board and select the ‘Copy DDE Link’ menu item, then paste into your spreadsheet. Only the specific value will be linked.

Again, the market must be displayed in the Quote Board window BEFORE it is linked to your spreadsheet. This also applies if you are loading a saved spreadsheet.

DDE - Getting data into Microsoft Excel

The DDE link format for market data in Excel is:

=T4Screen|'MKT_ '!

Where:

is the unique identifier for the market in T4. This does not match any exchange published symbol. You can only obtain these by using the above method of copying the link for a value from T4 and pasting it into Excel or some other application.

is the data value of the market that you want, for example last trade price. The valid values are shown below:
The last trade information will include trades in outrights due to spreads trading if the frontend is configured to show that information itself.

The Bid and Offer information will include implied prices if the frontend is configured to show it.

The difference between the ‘_TICKS’ and ‘_PRICE’ values is that the ‘_PRICE’ values are display prices (what you see on the frontend, e.g. 30yr bond = 11215) and the ‘_TICKS’ values are the decimal equivalent that can have math done on it (e.g. 30yr bond = 11215 = 112 points + 15/32 = expressed as a decimal is (112 + (15/32) = 112.46875). Please note that the decimal point is not present for all markets and must be added in programmatically if desired.

To send account and position data you can use the same method as above, except using the Account window instead of the Quote Board. Note that if you trade in a new market then Excel will not automatically detect that position, you must place links in Excel for each specific position that you want.

The DDE link format for account data in Excel is:

=T4Screen|'ACT_ '!

Where:

is the unique identifier for the account in T4. This does not match the account number or name. You can only obtain these by using the above method of copying the link for a value from T4 and pasting it into Excel or some other application.

is the data value of the account that you want, for example P&L. The valid values are shown below: The DDE link format for position data in Excel is:

=T4Screen|'POS_ _ '!

Where:

is the unique identifier for the account in T4. This does not match the account number or name. You can only obtain these by using the above method of copying the link for a value from T4 and pasting it into Excel or some other application.

is the unique identifier for the market in T4. This does not match any exchange published symbol. You can only obtain these by using the above method of copying the link for a value from T4 and pasting it into Excel or some other application.

DDE - Controlling T4 via DDE Commands

You can control some aspects of the T4 frontend via DDE commands. These are aimed at people programming applications within Excel that interact with T4. Opening a Contract Window¶ You can cause T4 to activate or open a Contract window with a specific market displayed. To do this you need to enter the following in a cell:

=T4Screen|'CW_ '!SHOW

where is the id of the market to display.

e.g. =T4Screen|'CW_CME_20130700_OZCN3_SPACE_C0680'!SHOW

Sending this command will cause the frontend to look for the most recently used Contract window for that Contract and bring it on top of any other application, making the specified market the active market. If no Contract window is found for that Contract then it will open a new Contract window and display it with that market active.

If you wish to repeatedly display the same market (e.g. user clicks a cell to display the contract window, then closes the contract window and clicks the cell again) then you need to replace the above cell contents with:

=T4Screen|'CW_ '!CLEAR

where is the id of the market.

This clears out the last command processed and will allow the previous command to be sent again as a new command.

If the command succeeds then the value ' ' will be returned to Excel, if the market is not found then ' ' is returned.
Changing the DDE Advertise Interval¶ You can change the timer interval that DDE advertisements are sent on. An advertisement is sent when a piece of data you are interested in has changed, e.g. last trade price. This is set at 10ms by default. If you want to slow down the updates then you can change this to be anything up to 60,000ms.

To change the timer you need to enter the following into a cell:

=T4Screen|'TMR_ '!SET

where is the timer interval to set, in milliseconds, between 10 and 60000.

e.g. =T4Screen|'TMR_500'!SET will set the timer interval to be 500ms.

If the command succeeds then the value ' ' will be returned to Excel.

If you close T4 desktop and reopen it then you would need to execute this command again for it to take effect.

Stop Market Orders

Stop orders are submitted on the opposite side of the market than normal Limit orders. A buy stop order is submitted at a price higher than the current best bid but does not fill until that price trades. A sell stop order is submitted at a price lower than the current best offer price.

Note that if the market is moving rapidly you may get filled at a worse price than the one you entered. If you want to prevent this by setting a limit price for the stop then you can do so with the Order Ticket.

Stops are useful as loss limits as you can use them to close out a position automatically if the market goes against you.

You can select the markets that are displayed by clicking the ‘Market’ button above the price scale. To select which outrights and strategies you want for the mini-market screen, right click on the screen and click on the select markets option or left click on the word “Market” next to the market mode.. Both options bring up a mini-market picker Select the months you wish to see. Click the OK button. Two Factor Authentication

T4 now has two-factor authentication to allow for an easier and more secure login.
Setup To setup go to www.t4login.com and login with your firm, username and password. Once logged in to the user setup web page you will see a new link called "Setup Security".

  1. "Setup Security" You need to click this after login to enable two factor authentication.
  2. Click on the drop down and choose either enabled, disabled, Not Enabled.
  3. Confirm the country and Mobile number is correct. If it is not you can click the setup user just above step one to make any changes to your user setup.
  4. If your device does not support text messaging then you can click here to enable your email.
  5. Click here to manage your devices. This is handy to view the enabled devices and remove any devices from the list. When you renew the device the next time you try to login to the device you will have to set it up the two factor authentication again for that device.
All new and existing users will be set to "Not Enabled" by default.

In order to enable 2FA, the user changes the setting to Enabled, enters his phone number, and then clicks Continue.

This phone # must be able to receive txt messages via SMS. Landline phones are not supported.

If you do not have a cell phone, or simply prefer to use email instead, There is a link on the setup to enable email.

If two-factor authentication is not enabled for the user until they successfully verify their phone number/email. When they click "Continue" a 6-digit verification code will be sent and they must enter it and click submit. Usage:
After setting up 2FA, the user will be required to authenticate every device he uses to log into T4.

The user will log in using his firm/username/password just like normal.

Send to Email If the user forgets or loses his phone and cannot receive a text message, the authentication token can be sent to his email instead.

The screen that prompts for the authentication code will display a link to send the code to email instead after a 20-30 second delay: Versions older than 4.3.72.1
2FA is supported for all older version of T4 and apps written to older versions of our API.

When the user logs in using an old version, the login will fail, however an authentication token will be delivered to the user. Non-Supported Applications Two-factor authentication is not possible in cases where we cannot receive a unique device identifier. FIX applications are a good example.

Also, some applications log in additional users, and it is not possible to support 2FA in this case.

For applications that cannot support 2FA, we have created an alternate authentication mechanism called an “application password”.

For these applications, the user will create a dedicated password for the application and configure it in their user setup.

TPO Summary

The TPO summary shows values and calculations for the current TPO (letter at a specific price.) The current TPO is whichever letter and price last traded. However if the crosshairs are enabled on the chart, the current TPO tracks whatever TPO is under the mouse as it is moved over the profile.

Properties -> Summaries (Tab) -> TPO Summary -> select desired TPO Summary to display.
